DAY 50 - Jellyfish, Doughnuts & Muddy Puddles

CANARVON to SOUTH LEFROY (Ningaloo Station) via CORAL BAY

It was TEEMING with rain as we packed up camp this morning in Canarvon Winter Sun caravan park. We weren't seeing any sun ...let alone a winter one!!
It's a challenge packing up in the rain with kids who you are trying to keep dry because they are about to be sitting in the car for some time & you don't want them soaking wet! I did enjoy watching them discover giant moths and creating shields and swords from large leaves and sticks.
As we traveled out of Canarvon eating out locally grown bananas the boys and mummy laughed as we sang and made up actions to some old time Sunday school favorites. 'King of the jungle', 'Wise man built his house upon a rock', 'Peace like a river'. So cute watching them all across the back, copying the actions.

By lunchtime we pulled into Coral Bay. The tide was right up due to the Moon causing king tides it was even washing over the road with the surging waves.
The boys had a blast playing in the shallows as mummy and daddy took it in turns to have a snorkel. It was lovely to get out into the deep and drift over the reef. Plenty to see, even though the visibility wasn't the greatest. One of the highlights was the large variety of fish species & jellyfish.
We were also super proud of Judd keen to give the snorkelling a go, he was so brave and went right out to the deep with mummy before getting a bit nervous and wanting to come back into shore. A great start to the snorkelling.
We were then of to Ningaloo Station, via a dirt track which meant tyers down and taking it slow.... except through the massive muddy puddles of course!!! Daddy was having such fun and keeping the boys entertained by the big muddy splashes coming up over the windscreen & windows.
Judd would egg on daddy by saying "My window's still clean!"
There were several tracks leading to the same location so the boys would choose their own adventure, always the track with the biggest whoop-de-doos!!

On arrival we discovered another flooded campground with plenty of campers relocated to an area well back from the beach. The good news was that we could still access our campsite!!
The wind howled, the tent flapped and we set up in the crazy stormy weather. Mummy made comfort food for everyone again. Delicious Nutella doughnuts 😋
Dinner we were bunkered down inside the tent as it rocked about. The boys were really brave and helpful & are handing these situations so much better than when we first started.
