This morning while going for a stroll on the beach with the boys. Clint gets chatting to a local who gifts a well known secret about Cape Kerauden which that it is home to the western most part of the original rabbit proof fence. So our quest for the rabbit proof fence begun. Whilst harassing a number of holiday makers for information on the whereabouts of this fence Clint proceeds to tell his version on the story of the rabbit proof fence to the compelled audience in the back seat. After getting comflicting reports on the location and 25mins scaling the cape in CRUZIE Clint deemed the quest unsuccessful. Clint settled for what was definitely not the original, but still gave him some consulation.
It was another big 5 (now 5 1/2) hour travel day. We were now a well oiled machine when it comes to life in the car. Claire had snack boxes and activity packs ready to dispense upon request. Clint had his driving sunnies...on. And our greatest weapon in the fight against slow travelling, we had become like an F1 pit crew when it came to roadside wees. Buckles would snap off as the brakes clamped on approach to a clear roadside. Doors would simultaneously pop open as the boys would ready themselves and bladders would relieve before reversing the egress process to ultimately avoid getting stuck behind to same grey nomads we had only just overtaken.
We stopped for lunch at Sandfire roadhouse which would normally not get a mention except that the were peacocks that just strolled around peaking interest with the boys along with playing with the bore water sprinklers & busted old machinery.
Arriving in Broome at about 3:30PM dad promised something special to reward a couple of long driving days as we planned to stop in at Broome for 5 nights. We went out for fish and chips at cable beach to watch the sunset and have running races on the sand.
