Day 117 - Spangled Eggs, Sandcastles & a Special Dinner

PALM COVE
This was our first proper rest since we left Darwin. It has been an amazing adventure and we were certainly grateful not to have to be in lockdown like our hometown, but we had been out in the elements for over 2 weeks and everyone was getting a bit over the constant moving, close quarters and dusty corrugated roads.
This was a welcome retreat. We treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast out. We all had a special juice. The big boys had special caramel banana pancakes, while everyone else has a variation of eggs. It was such a treat and a true back to 4 years ago when we went on holiday to palm cove with Clint's family.
We walked over to the beach and just played for hours until we were tired and hungry again. Claire made a trip to the shops to pick up some seafood for a special dinner at home while the boys watched the Olympics. The boys were amazed to see a 12yo winning the skateboarding.
We made another trip to the beach and the boys all got involved in building a Hartley Castle on the incoming tide. In the end, they all lay infront of the castle as a last line of defence to protect it. Once the tide finally washed it away it was time to head back for a warm shower and a special seafood dinner with some cool times and a G&T for the older folks. It was a pretty special day.
