Even setting off this morning after a goodbye to our tele family we were unsure where we were going. The concensus was south but we made a turn towards Lake Field to stay on the dirt tracks.
We stopped at Musgrave Station for lunch and bought some hot chips to add to our salad wraps. What a winner! We used our 5min free wifi COVID check in to book our campsite tonight at Hann river in Lake Field Nation Park.
We thought we thought we had found a campsite. A nicely shaded site by the bank of the river. Clint got all tribal and pretended to hunt crocodiles from and overhanging tree branch. We were all set up when we heard a commotion from some nearby fishermen in their tinny. They waved us down and yelled across the river "WHOA THATS A BIG ONE! THERES A BIG ARSE CROC JUST ON THE BANK NEAR YOU!" Clint grabbed a knife and a wooden spear with him to check it out. When within about 20m a 4m Salty croc 🐊 slid into the water only 40m where we had been spending our afternoon lounging around. With this revelation we packed up and found a sign "Do not camp beyond this point for your own safety". Perhaps the sign should have been displayed before you enter the campsite 😂 just up the hill we found our actual campsite just as nice and a bit more safer away from the bank of the river.
