Day 44 - Donkeys, Pinacle Fingers & Damper

Nambung Station to Freshwater Point North campground (Arrowsmith, WA)
An early pack up before the rain came again! And we headed up to the station office to pay and ask about animal feeding. Which they supplied some carrots for the boys to feed the horse and donkeys.
The boys learnt quickly about how to hold their fingers flat like a plate so they didn't get eaten off!
A little tricky for Micah with such tiny hands to balance a carrot on. But their lips were tickly and friendly and we walked away with all fingers intact! 😅
Mummy and the boys walked the driveway smashing paddy melons whilst daddy did a quick car hand wash. It was a muddy mess after dirt track driving in the pouring rain yesterday!
We took a 'management vehicles only' shortcut from the station to the Pinnacles. The track was overgrown, and a fun adventure. We followed emus for kilometres, watching them run along the road in front.
Eventually we made it to the spectacular Pinnacle Desert National Park. It was incredible to see the thousands of limestone fingers sticking up out of the ground. The loop drive was a wonderful way to see them, stopping regularly to marvel at God's clever handiwork. And our attempt at recreating the image from the Alison Lester, Are We There Yet? story book.
We stopped briefly at Knobby's campsites trying to find the ideal campsite for the night along the Indian Ocean Drive. But kept looking, ending up at Freshwater Point North. A secluded spot off the highway nestled in the bush.
Unfortunately a fair amount of rubbish takes away from the beautiful scenery. But it didn't stop us from enjoying our night with a campfire and damper for dessert.
