STREAKY BAY TO FOWLERS BAY (SCOTTS CAMPSITE)
Once we were up this morning we were startled by the sudden heavy down pour which intermittently returned making our pack up this morning challenging.
Everyone said goodbye to their new friends with the hope that we might see them again down the track. We made a quick trip back into streaky bay to bum some wifi of the pub from a strategic Park right out the front so we could download some offline maps and book our next night accommodation because we didn't know when would gain reception again. We then topped up or fuel. Clint was impressed that by simply dropping our speed from 110 to 100kph on Hwys we were able to increase our economy from 21km/L to 16km/L.
First stop, Ceduna from some lunch, stock up on some essentials, and Clint begun the famous Nullarbor links golf course with just a 7 iron and a putter, because that's all that would fit. It is famous for being the World's longest golf course spanning from Ceduna to Kalgoorlie over 1385kms. 2 holes down for a 2over. Next stop Penong just 30 mins down the hwy and famous for its Australia's largest windmill. It was also the next location for hole 3 of the Nullarbor Links. A 2 over, disappointing after a good tee off just 10metres from the green (or black) most of the greens are actually just raked black sand, very difficult to put on if you are used to manicured lush grass.
We would then shortly find our way pulling into Fowler's bay, a sleepy little secluded village by the bay. Another 20mins on a muddy salty track out to the most amazing campsite yet. We took a while to perfectly position Sandy for a good night sleep and morning ocean views. Sublime!
