Day 19 - Beaches, Beer and a Stonehenge

ESPERANCE
This morning we planned a day trip to visit Cape Le Grand and the beaches East of Esperance.

On the way we were given the tip to take the time to stop at the Esperance Stonehenge. It was a modern day life size replica. We chose to just view it from the side of road and later decided that was a good decision, as it is probably quite overrated.
We started at Wharton Beach 80km from Esperance and that is where we would spend the rest of our day. The view driving in was breathtaking. The rocks and islands look like they have been placed on this light crystal blue ocean bordered by bleached white sand, it was a paradise!
We all immediately headed straight out onto the beach and dipped our toes in the water. It was an unusually warm day of 23degrees and felt warm enough to swim which is exactly what we did. The water was shallow and the waves were mild so it was great for the bigger boys to run out and play in. Claire went for a bit of a snorkel and we then had sandy sandwiches on the beach for lunch.

Clint went for a walk to the head of the bay, discovering a secret cave off the track. After a number of hours and some tired and sandy bodies it was time to head back.
Andy's friend Steve recommended we check out lucky bay brewery and try their wood fired pizzas. So we headed back for some hot showers and to get cleaned up.

We had time for a cuppa with our neighbours who we were getting to know. They were from Perth having a last hoorah in their caravan before they sold it. They had booked a few nights at Cape Le Grand which they wouldn't be able to use because they had been having battery issues and kindly offered their spot to us, how amazing, as this is a very popular camping spot & was booked out well in advance! They also gave us a few tips for our plans on our way across to Perth which was very informative and helpful.
The boys had a nap in the afternoon. So we were recharged for the brewery. We ordered a few pizzas and Clint ordered a beer tasting paddle, mmm delicious๐Ÿ˜‹. The pick was the Indian pale ale. The kids were entertained running around in the wide open grassy area ๐Ÿ‘ and the pizzas were Bellissimo! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ•
