Day 5 - Steam Trains, Retro Vibes, Laundry & Deb.

VICTOR HARBOUR
This morning as I rubbed my chin, the words of my mother in-law rang through my ears "you can't trust people with facial hair, it's like they have something to hide"  to appease the voice in my head I decided to have a shave. It was a day to get our 'house' cleaning in check. The big boys helped with the washing.
The little boy was not so helpful, but tried his best. Time to hang out the washing.
A fond memory last time Claire and I were in Victor Harbour 10 years ago was the Cockle train, Australia's first railway.
We took the boys on the Cockle steam train from Victor Harbour to Goolwa and back stopping off at Port Elliot for a look around and some lunch at the Retro Vibes cafe and the boys had their first creaming soda spider.
Then down to Port Elliot beach for a play on the foreshore.
Back on the train to Goolwa where any opportunity for a nap was seized. Fun fact: "Goolwa" means means elbow in the local indigenous language because of the way the water shapes around the island.
Dad had a run across the bridge and back to Hindmarsh Island.
Then we all took a quick look at the PS Oscar W Paddleboat Streamer before heading back on the train where Marty copied the sound of the engines whistle the whole journey back to Victor Harbour with his new train whistle.
Tonight was bangers, peas and mash complements of Deb, the newly discovered instant mash (Clint thinks it's great, Claire...not convinced).
Kids were in bed by 6pm today. Wins all-round 🙌
Good night!
