VICTOR HARBOUR TO AUBURN
Today was a travel day which meant there was a big pack up to do we took turns packing up while the other entertained the boys. Clint took them fishing in some dirty old creek and thankfully didn't catch anything. Before we left Victor Habour we the wanted to ride a cross to Granite island. We just started to make our way over the bridge and was stopped by some locals who said "no bikes were allowed" so instead headed around the bay and took our bikes on the local skate park.
With some tired little legs getting back in the car it was only another 20mins before the next toilet stop would be required. We drove down into Adelaide and had a car lesson on the differences between States and capital cities, a late lunch in the park and then the final stretch of the 3 hour drive into Auburn, a town in the Clare Valley. Auburn was established in 1849 mainly for travellers passing through. The local hotel 'The Rising Sun' built in 1850 still stands.
We went for a quick ride into town to check out what happens at 4:30pm on a Saturday. And apparently, not much happens. I did manage to buy a lovely bottle of local riesling that complemented our leftovers dinner, from a cellar door that was a half hour past close.
