Day 104 - Monster Trucks, the One that Got Away & Swimming with Snakes

TOMATO ISLAND TO BUTTERFLY FALLS
We soaked up event minute we had here, it was a lovely place to camp. Green grass, great amenities, FREE washing machines!! Oh and the sprinklers that made for great entertainment. The morning was a beautiful, cool dry season day. We took it slow, waiting for washing to dry was a good excuse. Judd drove his Monster truck. Daddy had a quick fish and mummy caught up with family on FaceTime as we still had reception.
After the lovely slow morning, we were off down the dirt track, we pulled in for lunch stop at Towns camp, which is right on the Towns River. We threw the line in Claire got a bite, the fish even jumped out of the water as she pulled it in, Judd got very excited. Unfortunately we left after only catching a snag and losing the lure.
Back on the road, the drive was lovely, through the changing vegetation. Lovely looking rocky escarpments and low lying billabongs filled with purple water lillies. We even came across a brumby who ran out in front of the car with the breaks on full lock we managed to narrowly avoid collision.
We drove past the ranger station at Nathan River, where Claire's family friends lived. And into Butterfly Falls. It was stinkin' hot after set up. So we headed for a dip in the quiet plunge pool.
An egret fishing and snakes swimming across the top of the water it was a haven for more than just us!
