Biggest birthday smiles as Micah awoke to balloons being thrown on him. Marty and mummy were up early blowing up balloons and were sitting poised ready for the first moment he stirred. Bam! 🎈🎈🎈🎈🥳😁 We got him!
A decorated tent thanks to the drawings of big brothers and a couple of presents wrapped in alfoil, tea towels with glad wrap bows, made for a special morning for Mr 2!!
Unfortunately because plans have changed we were expecting to be at Aunty Ali's place today, so that is where Micah's birthday presents were sent to after I ordered them online a month ago. 😢 Feel a bit sad not giving him much, but it's beautiful to see how happy he is with the two simple things he did get!
We enjoyed a big birthday breakfast and a slower start than usual, the last ones out of camp, a rare moment!
We drove the last stretch into Katherine to find a local playground. Which was a winner 🙌 working up a sweat the boys were ready for a milkshake as promised for the birthday celebrations.
Off to the local coffee club cafe, which had a kids corner full of grotty toys that the boys loved!! We organised for a whipped cream topped muffin 🧁 that mummy decorated quickly to create a makeshift birthday cake! Success!! It felt like a real party for the boys who haven't seen toys or cakes for a long time! 🥳
The progressive birthday celebrations continued down the road to Macca's for lunch. We were hoping the playground would be open but it wasn't 😢 however the toy in the happy meal was the biggest win for the day, Minions!! One of Micah's favourite and clearest words!! Everyone got a birthday gift which they thought was very special!
It was then back to business, fuel, quick shop and Clint joined in on the territory COVID shopping rush at the local BWS and we were off, out of town. We had decided to head to Mataranka region, while we await for more information on the Darwin lockdown. This way we are still seeing something we wanted to see, while we wait.
On arrival at a stock camp, animals everywhere and a great place for the kids, the place was packed, there was no room in the inn. We made the most of their facility before heading off down the road to Elsey National Park campground. Again it was very busy but we squeezed in. A great spot with grass and a place to play, mummy set up party games while daddy set up camp.
We played sack races, marshmallow and spoon races (I wasn't willing to sacrifice my eggs!) Balloon piniata.
And a salad, vegetable platter with dip for dinner to make up for the junk food consumed today!
Desert was a birthday cake daddy scored on special, decorated by mummy with Micah's choice of Minions adorning the top. [Minions Birthday cake Video]
A super fun day for a super special boy!
