DRYSDALE TO PENTECOST RIVER
Both CRUZIE and Sandy had held up this long yet we were still concerned about having a major failure on the last leg out today. It was an emotional departure for Claire saying goodbye to dad. After some posting words about some special rock art to see if the track on our way out and a long hug we set off.
Clint was gaining with confidence driving on corrugations having now set up the car right for our load and driving style. We arrived at the rock art that John had given directions drawn into the dirt with a stick they were quite wonderful. It's amazing without a bit of local knowledge how you could drive past something so wonderful only 100m of the road.
We got to Ellenbrae for lunch and had their famous scones, jam and cream. Quite an ironic pleasure considering the rough, hot and torturous environment. The boys loved playing soccer on the well watered grass. Judd and Marty teamed up against dad to win a game 10-9 they all made up.
On the road again for some more horrid roads before the landscape opened up to an amazing range. We stopped to take some photos only to be surprised we had reception out in the middle of nowhere. The first time in weeks. We quickly replied to a few texts and calls back home and made the final journey today down to the mighty penticost river. We choose the road less traveled and cracked over rocks for a few hundred metes to find a nice camp on the western side.
We set up a nice camp fire, watched the wild cape town through the camp site, and salivated over a swim the inviting river, however it was know for sale Crocs so resisted the temptation.
